Mark Doran Wins The September $10,000 Monthly

We crowned a new Monthly champion from the Central Mass. Region.

His name is Mark Doran.

One hundred fifty-eight players started the day and finished the day battling it out with John Rebollo for the title.

Coming into this Final Table, Doran was the chip leader (not by much).

“I’m excited to be playing this event today, especially because it starts early in the morning”. Mark played his hands as perfect as he could.

Darrius Brown (3rd) eliminated three players on this nine-handed Final Table before busting out in 3rd place.

Mark’s battle Rebollo was almost epic. “John’s play was spot-on and played perfectly” said Doran. Chips were going back and forth for the next hour. The key hand for Doran was on a board of 10♣ 10♥ 5♦ 8♣ 2♣. Rebello made a bet of 220,000 at which time Mark tanked trying to figure out what John was representing. Mark then moved all-in for 950,000 more. John then thought about it before making the call. John held the third ten in his hand while John showed a five.

After that hand, it was still back and forth.

On the last hand of the night, Mark held K♥ 5♥ while John held A♥ 6♣.

As you can see from the photo, Mark flopped a heart flush but John held the A♥ for a possible better flush. No fourth heart came and Mark was declared the winner.

Mark wants to give a shout out to his brother Matt in South Carolina who was getting updates once Mark had made the final 3 tables.

Matt also wanted to make this statement: “You guys run a great game and the dealers were on point with everything. Thank You.”

One side note – Ryan Meleedy now has a double stack for the Season 33 Finals because he finished in 7th today
