Jean Ramos Wins In His First EVER Monthly Event!

The weather outside might have been frightful, but poker heated up the VFW very quickly.

One hundred fifty-seven players came and when the dust settled, we have a NEW champion who only started playing Eastern Poker Tour poker since last month!

Jean Ramos, a Great Lowell regional player, won today’s event.

Oh, did I mention that this was his first Monthly?

When asked on how he heard of Eastern Poker Tour, his reply was ” I just haven’t had the time in my life to play Eastern Poker Tour”. Then all of a sudden, started playing back in November and qualified for today’s event.

He thought the staff was great and the players were friendly all throughout the day.

When Jean entered the Final Table, Jean was third in chips. “I thrive on playing short stack” said Ramos. “I pick my spots well”. Jean did have two knockouts on this Final Table.

At the 100,000/200,000 level, he was heads-up with Todd Nicholson who was the chip leader all throughout the Final Table. A little here, a little there and suddenly Jean was leading (not by much, but leading).

On the last hand of the night, Ramos had 6♠ 9♥ vs Todd’s A♣ 8♦.

The flop went 6♣ 10♣ 10♠. The turn was the 2♥ and the river was the K♣ to give Ramos two pair and the victory.

Jean takes home $2500 PLUS a “Wild Card” seat into Day 2 of the Season 34 Finals coming in the Spring of 2025.

Side Notes – We had six out of nine players play in their first ever Monthly Final Table.
