Bob Young Wins The July $10,000 Monthly Championship

On what was a “Top 10” Summer day outside, 169 players came to the Walpole VFW to play in the $10,000 Monthly Championship.

After some blood, sweat and tears (mostly sweat and tears), Bob Young a Charity player battled and fought and ended up winning the event.

Bob takes home $2500 and a “Wild Card” seat into the Season 33 Finals.

Coming into the Final Table, Bob was second in chips. “My goal was to watch everyone knockout each other at this Final Table.” says Young. When Bob was first learning poker he bought a book by Phil Gordon and remembered one thing….”Go deep in every tournament and get lucky”.

And lucky was Young.

The biggest hand of the table was when he call an all-in by Jason Barbosa who held pocket Aces while Bob had Ace/Jack of hearts. One heart came on the flop…then one on the turn….then one on the river to give him a flush and knock out Barbosa in 4th. “If I don’t win that hand, I’m on shove fest after that” says Bob.

When asked what he’ll do with the money, he simply replied “Whatever the hell I want…”.

On the last hand of the tournament with the blinds at 60,000/120,000 Nick had to make a move to get chips and unfortunately for Nick, Bob woke up with a big hand:

Our second place finisher Nick Sims earned a “Double Stack” for the Season 33 Finals. He finished 5th in last month’s Monthly.
