Brian Lundy Wins The Season 33 May $10,000 Monthly Championship

Finally! A North Shore player takes the crown of Monthly Champion. Not since Ken Kergo’s Season 31 March Monthly win in Season 31 had a North Shore player won the Monthly.

A total of 153 players came to the Walpole VFW in what started out to be a miserable morning (weather speaking).

Brian Lundy wins the May $10,000 Monthly Championship. Not only does he take home $2500 for his efforts, but also earned a “Wild Card” seat for the Season 33 Finals coming in the Spring of 2024.

This is win number 49 for Brian.

When coming to this Final Table, Lundy had the chip lead and never was in danger. “I just sat here watching everyone take out everyone else. I played this Final Table the same way I played all day. I picked my spots.” said Lundy.

On the final hand of the event, with the blinds at 60,000/120,000, Chiu was short stacked after Brian won a big pot with pocket aces.

Lundy had pocket deuces vs Eddie Chiu’s A♦ 8♥. Brian flops a set and that was it.

Brian had 3 KO’s on this Final Table (Chiu -2nd, Rodrigues – 8th, Anshweitz – 6th).

This is Brian’s biggest cash and plans to take a cruise with his three boys since the oldest will graduate high school next year.

Notes — Jake Dennehy came up just short of making it back to back Monthly wins ending up in fourth place. But he did earn a “Double Stack” for the Season  33 Finals.

Congrats goes to Eddie Chiu. He always deals the Monthly’s and never gets at chance to play. Well, today it paid off taking home $1650.

This will wrap up everything today and we will see everyone “next month” in two weeks for the June $10,000 Monthly Championship on July 8th here at the Walpole VFW starting at 10am.
