Alan Lopes Wins The November $10,000 Monthly Championship
Today at the Walpole VFW, 182 players came to play for a share of the $10,000 prize pool, just in time for Christmas.
Alan Lopes, who came in 9th last month, won today’s event taking home $2500 and earned a “Wild Card” seat into the Season 32 Finals.
A very interesting thing happened to Mr. Lopes before reaching the Final Table. When the blinds were 2000/4000, Alan received a penalty for exposing his cards early. After that, Alan could not be stopped.
He was second in chips coming to this Final Table and he knocked out not one…not three…not five…but six players on this Final Table. Alan felt vindication after last month where he went all-in on a hand and got knocked out in 9th (just shy of the Wild Card seats).
This is Alan’s second best cash in a tournament.
John Varela, who ended up 2nd, grinded…and grinded…and grinded all day/night to reach the Final Table.
On the final hand of the night, with the blinds at 80,000/160,000, John was knocked out by Alan when Alan’s A♦ 4♦ was better than John’s K♥ J♣.
Eastern Poker Tour’s wins leader Ronnie Smith earned a “Double Stack” for the Season 32 Finals.
