Rhode Island Player Gerry McKinney Wins The September $10,000 Monthly Championship

On this beautiful October Saturday morning, one hundred and fifty-one players came here at the Walpole VFW for a chance to take home a portion of the $10,000 prizepool.

The state of Rhode Island was well represented with four players and Gerry McKinney battled it out with Nancy St. Laurent for the title.

Gerry’s pocket Kings were dominant versus Nancy’s A♥ 9♥ and when the river was dealt out, Gerry won the Monthly!

This was Gerry’s biggest cash in his career, and now he is looking for a ride back home to Rhode Island.

Nancy played strong all day and has nothing to be ashamed of. Her boyfriend was right beside her the entire way after he was eliminated earlier in the day.

His lone knockout was Nancy. Nancy knocked out two players at this final table and when the blinds were 50,000/100,000 it was basically a 50/50 coin flip on every hand.

We almost had our first back to back Monthly winner. Ronnie Smith made this Final Table and finished up in ninth.

Chun DeStramp made her THIRD Final Table of the Season finishing up in sixth.

Gerry now has a “Double Stack” for the Season 34 Finals coming up in the Spring 2025.
